MINDSCREEN FILM INSTITUTE, Chennai welcomes you for a 2-day screenwriting workshop.
The workshop is intended to provide participants with a basic understanding of the art and craft of writing scripts for films. The entire journey of the script, from idea to final screenplay, will be covered. All key aspects of screenwriting will be addressed, including story, character, structure, scenes and dialogue.
Short films as well as scenes from longer films will be shown and analyzed. By the end of the workshop, participants will not only begin to understand and appreciate the mechanics of a screenplay, but also begin the journey towards discovering their own potential for telling stories using the form of the screenplay.
Workshop Facilitator: Ashwini Malik, Independent filmmaker, Screenwriter, Screenwriting teacher.
Ashwini was Born in 1969, obtained a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from delhi University and then went to India’s premier film school, Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) to study Film Direction. His graduation film, The Waiter in Slow Motion, was in official competition at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 1995.
Ashwini began his career in television and went on to write, direct and produce a number of fiction and non-fiction shows. In 2002, he directed his first feature film, Clever & Lonely, which was shown at several film festivals.
Since 2004, Ashwini has been involved in teaching Screenwriting. He has taught at his alma mater FTII, and currently teaches at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. He has also been mentor at many screenwriting programs and workshops in India and abroad.
