Science Writer Wanted at the Philippine Rice Research Institute

Via devcom.edu.ph: The Development Communication Division of the Philippine Rice Research Institute, based in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija is looking for a science writer/journalist. Graduates of journalism, development communication, mass communication, or any communication-related courses are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant is capable of:

• writing and handling media releases;
• simplifying scientific or technical information and transforming them into popular knowledge products; and
• properly and efficiently managing the editorial aspect of the Institute's policy communication material, where scientific results are simplified for appreciation and guidance of decision makers in the rice industry.

Junior and senior-level positions are offered (contractual, minimum of six months), depending on skills, experience, and level of education, and scholastic achievements/honors. Salary is competitive and commensurate to position and degree of expertise.

PhilRice also offers fellowships on research and thesis/dissertation and graduate research assistantship for faculty in communication/social sciences, agriculture, biological sciences, engineering. Assistantship range from PhP150,000 to PhP300,000, with monthly stipend of PhP30,000 to Php50,000.
